Kan. Patrol To Determine If Drugs Led To Crash

EUDORA, Kan. -- The Kansas Highway Patrol is trying to determine if marijuana use contributed to a weekend crash that left two people dead.The accident occurred Saturday outside Lawrence when a car driven by 24-year-old Ryan Pittman of Eudora crossed a median on Kansas Highway 10 and hit a van.Pittman was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger in the van, 5-year-old Eudora resident Cainan Shutt, was pronounced dead at a hospital. Shutt died was riding in the van along with his along with his little sister Courtlyn and their grandparents .Troopers say Pittman's 98' Camry crossed the median and crashed head on into Deborah and Danny Basel who were driving in the opposite direction.
